Today was a typical NYC December day: about 35 degrees, partly cloudy, with wind off the river. There was some dampness in the air that was extra chilling and the Hudson was looking ominous as I ran south along the greenway. I think the weather scared some folks away for I had the very enjoyable impression of having the city to myself; I may have seen three other runners the entire afternoon.
I had an appointment at 3:45 on the Upper West Side and spent the morning preparing for holiday baking. I prepped four pannetone (they're in the oven now) before rushing like mad to get properly dressed for my run. I left myself just enough time to make it to my appointment if I pushed it, so I had an excuse to push it.
And here's another endorsement for running the Hudson River parks. It is an unbelievable park space. Unlike anything I've run (or seen) in any city. The ability to run more than 14 uninterrupted miles immediately adjacent to the water is amazing. The weather forecast for tomorrow is 38 degrees and sunny. Perfect day for another run.
